Effect of Postpartum Depression in Mothers With 0–1-Year-Old Infants on Father–Infant Attachment

Objective: This analytical, cross-sectional study was designed to determine the effect of postpartum depression in mothers with 0–1 year old infant on father–infant attachment.Methods: The included 207 and fathers 0–12-month-old infants. data were collected using Introductory Information Form, Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EPDS), Father–Infant Attachment (FIAS). analyzed standard deviation, arithmetic mean, Mann–Whitney U test, correlation analysis.Results: Total 18.3% at risk depression, mean total EPDS score 7.19 ± 5.17. FIAS 74.95 6.21. There no statistically significant difference between sub-scale scores (p > 0.05). a significant, weak, negative (r = −0.15; r −0.181) < 0.05).Conclusion: We concluded that (PPD) has attachment. primary responsibilities midwives should include determining factors affecting parent–infant attachment providing training consultancy establish communication. A secure can be achieved by ensuring participation during pregnancy, delivery, periods careful evaluation terms PPD.
